Join Our Team of IBCLCs

Being in private practice as an IBCLC can sometimes feel isolating, overwhelming, and even frustrating—especially when it comes to insurance, billing, and finding the right partners. That’s exactly why Lactation Consultants of America exists.

We’re a group practice built by IBCLCs, for IBCLCs. Our mission is to let you keep growing your own business—while joining forces with a community of lactation professionals who truly understand what you’re going through.

Here’s everything you need to know about partnering with us:

Step One: Get to Know Us

The first step is simple—fill out our Interest Form. This helps us learn more about you, and gives you a chance to see if our group is the right fit for your practice.

What You’ll Need to Join

We empower you to stay your own business. To partner with us, you’ll need:

  • Your own LLC or Corporation

  • EIN (Employer Identification Number)

  • NPI (National Provider Identifier)

  • Current liability insurance

👉 Important: You’re not “becoming us.” You’re partnering with us. You’ll continue running your own practice—just with the support and strength of a collaborative group.

How We Work (And Why It Matters)

We’re more than a billing company—we’re a true group practice. That means:

  • A shared EHR system with standardized, non-negotiable charting requirements.

  • Clear processes designed to make sure everyone gets paid on time.

  • A supportive structure where IBCLCs can thrive without the billing headaches so many of us have faced before.

Yes, we set high standards. But they exist to protect you, your clients, and your business.

Who Thrives With Us

From experience, we know the IBCLCs who do best in our group are those who:

  • Want to serve families through many insurance plans and broaden their reach.

  • Are ready to work within shared systems that keep everything running smoothly.

If you prefer to bill only one insurance plan and manage separate systems, that’s okay—but we may not be the right fit.

What Happens Next

If everything you’ve read feels like the right match, here’s what the process looks like:

  1. Fill out our Interest Form.
  2. We’ll review it and get back to you within about a month.
  3. You’ll be invited to a group interview where you can ask us anything—nothing is off limits.
  4. If we’re a good fit for each other, onboarding typically takes 4–6 weeks.

Why Join Us?

This isn’t just billing. This is about building a true partnership—a place where IBCLCs can run sustainable businesses, lean on one another for support, and focus on what matters most: helping families.
